The nail don't hurt enough yet...

Ah Seng went to visit his neighbour, who had a front garden that extended across the entire front of his terrace house.

On the garden sat the neighbor's dog, howling . . .

whooo-whooo-whooo

Ah Seng asked his neighbor what the dog's problem was . . .

whooo-whooo-whooo

The neighbor said, "he's sitting on a nail."

whooo-whooo-whooo

Ah Seng asked why the dog didn't just move instead of howling

whooo-whooo-whooo

The neighbour said . . . The nail don't hurt bad enough yet . . .

We all know that colleague who always complain the company is so mean, so stingy. Job no prospect, company no future. But after 5 years still in the same job with the same company... it's a bit sad no?

How about the coffee shop uncle in his 60s whining that Singapore impossible to live in. Medical costs too high! Transport costs too high! Property prices too high! It's fun listening until he shared he has relatives already emigrated to other countries... And he boasted he started this tirade when he was in his 30s... What great foresight he had!

Does your nail hurt enough yet?

  1. Hi SMOL,

Sometimes, people get used to pain. It becomes a constant companion.

    Then, there are bragging rights:

"Wah, this nail in my behind damn terok!"

"That small little nail in your behind, look at mine! Mine is tua ki lor. Yours is nothing lah!"

Ahem... I think I have said too much...

    1. Now now, don't get carried away... Language sir!

But I must compliment you on your Singlish! I like!

Ah! Pain can indeed be pleasurable, if its the leather and whip kind...

Hey! Did you just say yours is bigger? Modesty sir!

      Young people nowadays... LOL!

    2. SMOL,
The law of inertia applies also to our mental make-up. This reminds me of the Jews as slaves in Egypt hesitant to be freed when there was an opportunity. We are all no different in a sense.

coconut! i were just thinking of you. What happens? Why so quiet? Are you hiding in some dark corner waiting to strike? Not the illegal BUS strike without permission O. K.? i like your unconventional way of thinking. It makes me think. I have read you in FAT's blog too. Wah! You really is something there.

    5. 1) temperament,

Majority of people are sheep. They need shepherds to herd them.

    6. Hi SMOL,

Hey, all Singaporean males who have been through NS and not passed a course in Singlish cannot be normal. Either they are linguistically challenged or just plain snobs. ;p

I pride myself in my ability to code switch with ease! Who says Hossan Leong is the only True Blue Singaporean Boy around? I Truer and Bluer than him lor... hahaha...

      Hi coconut,

Aiyoh. I tell you hor, I can chat with the aunty who sells vegetarian bee hoon at the canteen machiam from the same kampong in Choa Chu Kang like that lor. Singlish is unique to Singapore and I am proud of our national language! Er.. simi? Our national language is Malay? Oh, my mistake.

Actually, the Malaysians might disagree with me about Singlish being ours. It is like how we have been fighting over whether Bah Kut Teh is the national dish of Singapore or Malaysia. Of course, it belongs to Singapore lah! kekekeke.....

You may be right. Most of them must be HIGH- FLYERS protecting their tufts. Just like the picture of the dog you posted. It seems to me the dog may be shitting and not howling.

    3. Temperament, wah, you are questioning the integrity of my good friend, SMOL? The dog is obviously howling lor!

Pssst, SMOL, the dog howling or shitting har? You can tell me the truth. I promise. I won't tell anyone if you say it was shitting and you used the picture because you couldn't find one of a howling dog... I good friend or not? ;)

  3. 1) AK,

I just googled "Dog" and choose this pic. I did not type Dog howling or Dog shitting. I've no clue myself!

I not so sure about the integrity thing. I steal with pride and I also an equity man-whore...

    2) temperament,

I quite like our exchanges in this post and the other post ;)

I shamelessly think it's a good example of how 2 persons from opposite sides can have a cordial and witty debate (throw in some humour and mild innuendos); without resorting to name calling or sending "regards" to each others' family members.

What's the point of having the last word when it brings into question our upbringing?

      Well put again.

We should always remember we can learn from "The GOOD, The BAD & The Ugly". And don't think we can only learn from the "The GOOD" only. Without knowing "THE BAD & THE UGLY", how do you know "THE GOOD" when you meet one. But i am always "THE GOOD lay" My skin is always very thick you know. HA! HA!

We see, we hear, we learn... we retain and we discard... always respectful... always civil. :)
